MY STORY

Auckland, New Zealand-based artist, Bridget Baker, has a fascination with the dualities of the mind and the world around us.

Baker's exploration of Qigong meditation and her studies at Browne School of Art have provided an inseparable symbiosis with her work. Her collections represent a journey inward to find a sanctuary—a pursuit of a greater sense of wellbeing and tranquillity whilst juggling a young family, business and fine art practice.

In her work, Baker intentionally and playfully embraces the uncertainty that arises not only from the materials themselves but also in the process of creation. At the core is a purposeful pursuit to find balance—to achieve stillness of the mind whilst being open to the energetic

flourish of creativity that can arise from an unfettered intuition. Throughout her work, she achieves a delicate balance between experimentation, intentionality, intuition and balance of forms.

Through the simplicity of these pieces, Baker aims to convey a sense of peace and calm that creates a moment in time to ponder and simply be.
